Nothing transforms outdoor areas more than a paint refresh and a change of season is the perfect time to begin a project. Painting outside areas is satisfying and almost instantly gratifying, which is ideal if you are an impatient gardener who wants to add colour without waiting for the plants to grow! Providing the perfect backdrop for planting schemes and entertaining areas, paint and the outdoors work in harmony to create an extension of your home. Look for colours associated with the earth, sky, sea and sun for inspiration that is guaranteed to work.

Door: Ho Ho Green

Serene Green

For harmony and tranquillity, green paint colours are the obvious choice for the garden and seamlessly blend in with luscious foliage in both contemporary and country settings. Use greens like Ho Ho Green 305 for front doors to provide a contrast against red brick. Concrete walls painted in Puck 298 or Mid Azure Green 96 offer a contemporary and convivial look for dining areas.  For a smaller project, paint a pergola in Harley Green 312 and let the tendrils of plants wrap themselves around the painted wood.

Exterior Wall: Tuscan Red

The Bright Outside

Inject energy and vibrancy into your outdoor space with bright hues. This can be a fabulous way to add interest to your garden without the use of plants!  Bright paint colours in the garden can also be the perfect choice for those who want to create an al fresco dining room.  The intense Tuscan Red 140 is ideal for a Mediterranean look or Orange Aurora 21 for a more playful scheme. For a cooler alternative, paint the summerhouse in Juniper Ash 115 and combine it with Atomic Red 190 on furniture.

Railing: Lead Colour

Country Living

Pale blues combined with delicate blooms create a nostalgic look in both country and town gardens.  For front doors and window frames against red brick, choose intriguing Celestial Blue 101 and watch it change blue, green and grey throughout the day. This is also a soft colour choice for railings in traditional settings.  For a contemporary alternative for garden railings, Lead Colour 117 is a strong option.  When painting primed metal, use the durable Intelligent Gloss or Intelligent Eggshell finish.
