Step inside the collection…
We are excited to unveil an enchanting world of wallpaper designs inspired by archive material from properties conserved and cared for by the National Trust. Inspiration has been drawn from historic artefacts, early and mid-twentieth century toys, decorative fabrics and original artworks, including several from the beloved children’s author, Beatrix Potter – one of the National Trust’s principal benefactors.
From classic toy cars to wooden games, these objects have been lovingly conserved and meticulously redrawn by our team. Each one has been transformed into a beautiful wallpaper design that captures the charm of the originals. The new papers have been elegantly coloured in Little Greene shades and presented alongside a selection of coordinating colours, to help you combine paint and wallpaper with confidence.

Inspired by vintage toys…
Nostalgic designs like ‘Rodney Street’, ‘Balance’ and ‘Road Trip’ show characterful depictions of children’s toys from the past. These include a vintage, mechanical apple-picking toy found at The Hardmans’ House in Rodney Street, Liverpool, as well as toy cars and trucks conserved at the National Trust’s ‘Children’s Country House’ in Sudbury Hall, Derbyshire.

Featuring the artwork of Beatrix Potter…
The collection employs a spectrum of printing methods, from traditional surface printing to cutting-edge digital machines. There is one flocked design which brings a delightful textural element to Beatrix Potter’s beloved flock of Herdwick Sheep in the ‘Nip & Lassie’ wallpaper. Beatrix was known for her love of farming the land at Hill Top Farm in Ambleside. Her doodled portraits of her two working collies, Nip and Lassie, also feature in this design.

The artwork of Beatrix Potter has again been captured within our new ‘Potter’s Woodland’ mural. This enchanting wallpaper has been thoughtfully composed from a variety of individual drawings and paintings from her unpublished sketchbooks.

New colourways of our Broad Stripe wallpaper…
To complete the collection, we have also produced new colourways of our much-loved, generously proportioned wallpaper, ‘Broad Stripe’. These feature joyful, mood-boosting shades like Yellow-Pink and Celestial Blue, as well as one contemporary combination that pairs Masquerade with Pleat. Use ‘Broad Stripe’ individually or alongside another of our ‘Storybook Papers’ to create a playful scheme that’s bursting with design interest.

Designed in partnership with the National Trust…
Our Creative Director, Ruth, writes: “It’s always such an honour to have access to the incredible National Trust properties, uncovering and reviving captivating historic designs, reinterpreting them and extending their history in new colourways and formats. It’s wonderful to think that these beautiful pieces of history including toys, children’s illustrations, and fabrics have now been transformed by the design team into wallpapers that will find their way into contemporary homes, bringing joy for years to come.
Whilst the origins of the ‘Storybook Papers’ are very much rooted in childhood, the whimsical, playful and colourful nature of these wallpapers makes them perfect for a multitude of spaces alongside children’s rooms and nurseries. I see these bold, bright and characterful designs bringing joy to breakfast rooms, hallways, boot rooms, bathrooms and dining spaces.”
A contribution from the sale of every roll of our wallpaper is made in support of the National Trust’s important work caring for 500 places, including 780 miles of coastline, historic sites, 250,000 hectares of countryside and green spaces, ensuring that people and nature thrive – now and for ever.
