Why Little Greene Paint Colours Can’t Be Colour Matched
We all know that selecting the perfect paint colour is absolutely integral to the success of your interior design project. Colour choice is often the single most impactful element of the whole scheme.
Yet, paint is also one of the cheapest elements. You can invest in the best coatings available for a fraction of the cost of a sofa, bed, table or rug.
Paint colour matching: Beware of imitations!
Once you have chosen your shade, avoid the temptation to attempt a ‘colour match’ for paint. If the ‘equivalent’ colour, or ‘closest match’, is mixed by another brand, you really aren’t getting the same high quality paint!
Firstly, our colours can’t be replicated using the human eye or a spectrophotometer. The finished effect of our paints rely on the ‘unseen’ ingredients: the resins, the binders, and the cutting-edge technology. These elements can’t be replicated by lesser raw materials or fewer injections of less pure colours.

Units: Grey Teal
A notable feature of our heavily-pigmented paints is their beautiful interaction with the changing light throughout the day. Paint shades differ from morning light, midday sun, to evening ambience and subsequent artificial lighting. A two-dimensional colour copy just won’t support the same relationship. In many lights, colour-matched paint may be discordant with the rest of your interior. Thereby an imitation shade may not afford you the satisfaction of a beautiful, cohesive space.
