Choosing a fabric for your spring home refresh

Nicky Line, Loaf’s Chief Product Officer, writes:

“As we move into Spring 2024, we can't get enough of our Clever Vintage Linen – customers love the gorgeous natural texture of this old-school drapey linen and the fact that it's spill-proof makes it so wonderfully practical. Linen's enduring qualities and appeal work so well with the resurgence of earthy tones we're all seeing. Our terracotta shades like Quince Jam and mossy green hues like Baked Fig pair perfectly with natural tones and soft pinks - just perfect for the time of year when you want to let the light in and throw open the doors to nature.”

Four spring interior schemes

As you plan your next project, explore four ways to pair Loaf fabrics with colours and wallpapers in the Little Greene palette to create inviting spring schemes that are perfect for any classic or contemporary interior…

1. A sophisticated floral scheme with Aderyn – China Clay

An elegant floral trail featuring birds, magnolia and peony flowers, our Aderyn wallpaper is a wonderful choice for a spring bedroom refresh. For added sophistication, pair the China Clay colourway with the rich deep purple, Adventurer, on your trim. Loaf’s ‘Pressed Olives – Clever Velvet’ fabric will coordinate with the green details in the wallpaper and bring a further element of luxury to the scheme.

2. A contemporary botanical scheme with Fern – Sage Blue

Nicky writes: “Texture plays a pivotal role in fabric selection and so does practicality. Spill-proof finishes make for much more relaxed sofa time with family and friends.  Embrace soft yet durable plush velvets for a rich and vibrant take on colour or opt for slubby laid-back woven cottons and linens for a more knocked-back, natural and textural feel.”

Introduce a simple botanical wallpaper like Fern – Sage Blue for a contemporary scheme that evokes freshness and tranquillity in your living space. In this muted blue colourway, Fern provides a relaxing backdrop that combines well with soft yellow fabrics and furnishings, such as Loaf’s ‘Lemon Drizzle – Brushed Cotton’.

3. A timeless colour pairing with Spring Flowers - Garden

Nicky writes: “If you’re selecting a statement colour this spring, consider the mood you want to create. Opt for vibrant hues like coral or sage to infuse your space with energy, or choose soft pastels for a more calm and serene take on spring.”

One of six unique colourways, Spring Flowers – Garden allows you to embrace a classic pink and green colour scheme that is the embodiment of springtime. Introduce colour accents of Masquerade, Julie’s Dream and Hopper, and coordinate with contemporary Loaf fabrics like ‘Pressed Peonies – Clever Velvet’ and ‘Parched Lawn – Clever Softie’.

4. A vibrant colour combination with Bamboo Floral - Heat

Nicky writes: “I have a real passion for layering different textures and tones. Taking one colour and building depth and interest by selecting a velvet sofa with a range of linen cushions can be as lovely as contrasting tones across the same texture. Experimenting with texture and tone will help to create a look that's truly individual and "bespoke".”

Bamboo Floral in the Heat colourway is a fabulous contemporary choice to add warmth, intimacy and vibrancy to your scheme. Combine this wallpaper with complementary blue and orange fabrics and paint colours to create a truly inviting interior setting. Consider layering furnishings in different tonal fabrics across a range of cosy textures, like ‘Clotted Cream – Clever Laundered Linen’, ‘Bird Box – Clever Velvet’ and ‘Chalkboard – Brushed Cotton.’
