Award-winning interior designer, Matthew Williamson, used a vibrant palette of greens from Little Greene in his latest project at the Design Museum in Kensington. Puck, Kitchen Green and Garden provide an engaging backdrop for an array of contemporary furniture and accessories at the new Design Kitchen.
Matthew Williamson is renowned for his distinctive and eclectic use of colour and pattern to create striking interior designs. In this project, he worked with a number of British brands, including Little Greene, to design a relaxed, contemporary dining and meeting space in the Design Museum. Matthew collaborated with stylist and creative, Fran Lee, who previously appeared on BBC TV series, Interior Design Masters.
Matthew writes: “For the new Design Kitchen at the Design Museum, I chose to focus on the views outside the windows overlooking Holland Park as my inspiration. A rich palette of varying tones of green was used to invigorate the space. Mid-century furniture, hand-blown glass lighting, velvet and printed upholstery were selected for a homely, informal atmosphere.
The Little Greene palette presents a myriad of greens, from deep and sumptuous shades to lighter and muted tones. Matthew chose three green shades to draw the outside into the light-filled space and complement beautiful fabrics and furniture.

From the rich and bold, Puck, to the summery mid-green, Garden, and gentle Kitchen Green, each shade reflects nature and creates a sense of calm and focus. The combination of green tones creates a smooth gradient from light to dark across the walls, banquettes and woodwork, forming intimate spaces where visitors can work and socialise.
