Little Greene shades were selected to adorn the impressive ‘Temple Garland Gateway’ which forms the entrance to the Kings Meadow field at Glastonbury Festival. In a design by our stockist Luci Living Design, some of our most vibrant shades are used to create a beautiful, bohemian-style entranceway.
Manchester-based interior designer, Luci Roper, was delighted to be commissioned to create a gateway art installation for Glastonbury Festival 2022. Teaming up with expert carpenter Toby Thompson, she set to work on materialising her vision of a 10m x 6m temple-style timber structure with decorative pillars, sunflower embellishments and gold accents.
Luci’s installation formed the departure point for the opening ceremony and parade. It is situated in the festival’s spiritual centre – a space to connect with the natural world and experience its peaceful effects – so she wanted to create a bright and eye-catching entranceway. Our deep, earthy Bronze Red creates real impact against the lush green surroundings. Canton, Mister David, Marigold and Hopper provide joyful pops of colour on the grand pillars and garlands.
Fundamental to her project was the use of eco-friendly products. Alongside a structure made from recycled and donated materials, she was determined to use a British paint brand committed to the protection of the environment. Handcrafted in the UK, our low VOC, water-based Intelligent Exterior Eggshell provides an exquisite, eco-friendly finish that is highly durable against the elements.
The installation took several weeks to assemble, with a team of keen helpers and even some local chickens assisting in the process! More than 150,000 attendees were expected to visit the ‘Temple Garland Gateway’ during Glastonbury Festival’s opening ceremony on 22nd June.
