Derek Dickinson features Little Greene in his artwork
Derek Dickinson has featured Little Greene paint in some of his recent artworks. With rich pigment and stunning depth of colour, our vibrant Ultra Blue and chalky Absolute Matt finish perfectly complement the artist’s bold style.
Cornwall-based artist, Derek Dickinson, has exhibited across the globe, including at the Royal Academy in London. Using strips of muslin and acrylic paint, he uses his artwork to portray deep emotions, taking inspiration from poignant performance art and ballet.
While he previously felt only stark monochrome schemes could provide the necessary sense of immediacy and directness, he writes, “My reluctance to reintroduce colour into my work entirely altered when I discovered the Little Greene Paint Company’s Absolute Matt - Ultra Blue. After much exploration this was the only colour that I felt complemented the work I was making and added to the emotion I was attempting to convey.”

He was particularly pleased with the 2% sheen of our Absolute Matt paint: “The matt finish is exquisite, giving no light reflection thus avoiding the feeling of a barrier which I often feel when a painting has a glossy finish or behind glass…I am now looking forward to trying other colours from this range and hoping to feel the same excitement from the results as I have so far from applying this astonishing paint."
