This October, we are participating in Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2022. A proportion of our sales during the month of October will go to a selection of hardworking, local charities who offer incredible help to those affected by breast cancer.
Over the past few years, we have donated 15p from the sale of every tin of paint and roll of wallpaper during October to breast cancer charities. We partner with small, local charities for whom donations make a massive difference to the work they carry out, from practical care to medical services. With a minimum donation of £20,000, we are proud to help these charities achieve their ambition of ensuring no one faces breast cancer alone.
This year, we have launched a limited-edition Little Greene sample pot pin badge. These can be found on our website and in our London showrooms, for £2.50 each. Show your support by adding these small tokens to your basket whenever you purchase from Little Greene during October. All proceeds will be donated to our partner charities: The Christie Charitable Fund, Breast Cancer Unit Appeal at Yeovil Hospital Trust, Keeping Abreast and Flat Friends.
Our Creative Director, Ruth Mottershead, writes:
“Whilst there are a number of large charitable organisations doing incredible work raising funds for cancer research, it’s wonderful for us to be able to support such a worthy group of smaller, local charities, who offer much needed help, be that holding hands, lifting spirits or raising funds to build dedicated services for those going through an incredibly traumatic time.”
This year, we have handpicked a selection of charities that focus on providing emotional and practical support to those impacted by breast cancer:
Based in Manchester, the Christie is the largest cancer centre in Europe. It provides specialised support services beyond what the NHS can usually offer. Their Charitable Fund raises donations to facilitate their amazing work, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy centres, diagnostic services and research.
82p in every pound raised by the Christie goes directly to their patients, including those affected by breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Unit Appeal at Yeovil Hospital Charity
Yeovil Hospital Charity is fundraising for their Breast Cancer Unit. With services currently spread across different locations in the hospital, they are aiming to provide a dedicated site for breast cancer patients to receive the care they need.
Little Greene also supported Yeovil Hospital Charity last year. We are proud to continue our support and help them reach the funds needed to complete the build in the next few months.
Established in 2007 by women impacted by breast cancer, Keeping Abreast offers vital support to women facing the possibility of reconstructive surgery. They offer a safe space for women to discuss their experiences and give practical help and advice to those undergoing surgery.
The funds we raise will help women in every stage of their breast cancer journey, whether they are considering reconstructive surgery or in recovery.
Flat Friends is dedicated to supporting women who have chosen to have single or double mastectomy surgery without reconstruction, affirming this as a positive outcome. Their Facebook group provides a protected setting for women to talk about their shared experiences and offer advice and encouragement.
All donations are used to fund projects run by their volunteers, including posters, booklets and flyers found in breast cancer units and hospitals.
